ESSER III English Language Arts Strategies

Outcome: 100% of tier 2 and 3 students will meet their growth target on Reading Inventory or Lexia. Growth target will be defined as a grade level increase as determined by the metrics on Reading Inventory or Lexia.

Strategy 1: Model the use of reading and thinking strategies that support collaboration and discussion for all students

Strategy 2: Build and activate background knowledge and foster vocabulary development for tier 2 and 3 students.

Strategy 3: Plan for student choice and autonomy that increases engagement in literacy.

ESSER III Mathematics Strategies

Outcome: Proficiency Goal:70% of students with disabilities will score pass/advanced on the Virginia Standards of Learning Assessment and 90% of economically disadvantaged students will score pass/advanced on the Virginia Standards of Learning Assessment. Growth to Proficiency Goal: 100% of students with disabilities and economically disadvantaged students will meet their growth target on Math Inventory.

Strategy 1: Provide explicit instruction to allow for more opportunities for students to collaborate and communicate in Math through the utilization of the Shift 8 practices.

Strategy 2: Differentiated support offered for Tier 2 and 3 students using strategies that represent Shift 8.

Strategy 3: Parent and Community Engagement will be provided to explain and raise awareness of Shift 8.

ESSER III Wellness Strategies

Outcome: By the end of the 2022-23 school year, overall positive responses on the selected questions in the SEL screener will increase by at least 10% by implementing tier 1 supports during advisory lessons and around the building, and Tier 2 and 3 supports for students that are in need of more instruction, guidance, and assistance.

Strategy 1: Implement the curriculum in advisory periods as a Tier 1 intervention with fidelity of implementation.

Strategy 2: Tier 1,2, and 3 - Educating family, staff, and students on how to help students with mental and physical health.

Strategy 3: Tier 2 & 3 - Establish a variety of settings for students to manage their emotions in a healthy and proactive manner.

Portrait of  Graduate (POG) Outcome

Goal: By the end of the SY2022-23, 100% of students at Justice will demonstrate increased proficiency in critical thinking as measured by common performance indicators determined by collaborative teams.

Strategy 1: Increase focus on growth mindset techniques that promote student engagement in the classroom, builds a sense of belonging in the Justice community, and a increases positive learner self-concept. This increase in student engagement will help students work towards the POL process in the future.

Strategy 2: Challenging the instructional norms by building critical thinking skills and increasing rigor for all students.

Strategy 3: MTSS structures will be implemented to ensure progress for all students by using data to design appropriate interventions and enrichments. This will ensure that all students will be capable of completing a POG POL by 2025-26.

Dropout Rate End of Year SMARTR Outcome

Goal: 2022-23 goal: By the end of the SY 2022-23, our dropout rate for the Cohort Year of 2023 will be at or below 9%.

Strategy 1: Identify and support seniors in need of tier 3 supports or interventions so they can successfully earn a passing grade in courses and or earn verified credits needed for graduation.

Strategy 2: School staff will work collaboratively to analyze data and develop systems in order to identify students at risk of dropping out as early as possible and ensure a smooth transition to alternative education programs.

Strategy 3: Increase outreach to students in the 2023 graduating cohort who are listed as potential dropouts and/or those who have indicated that they would like to dropout of school
