In Summer 2018, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and the WMATA Board approved a pilot program to allow students who attend Justice High School (formerly J.E.B. Stuart High School) to ride certain Northern Virginia Metrobus routes for free using a specially designed and programmed SmarTrip card.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • The Student Pass SmarTrip card can ONLY be used on Fairfax Connector, City of Fairfax CUE and specific Northern Virginia Metrobus routes listed in the table below.
  • When you board the bus simply tap the card on the farebox and GO!
  • If you wish to use Metrorail or any other transit system that accepts SmarTrip you will need a standard SmarTrip card.
  • For full terms and conditions click here.

Keep in mind, the card:

  • Cannot be used on Metrorail or any Metrobus route outside of Virginia (ABSOLUTELY NO USE in DC or Maryland) If you attempt to use the card on a non-approved route outside of Northern Virginia your card will be deactivated and you will not be issued a new one.
  • Does not carry any cash value. You can’t add money to it like a regular SmarTrip card.
