Congratulations to Mr. Wilson Harvey on his recognition as the February 2024 FCPS CARES Region 2 Recipient of the Month, presented by the FCPS Department of Human Resources.

The FCPS CARES Program allows parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story below so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees.

Below is the write-up submitted by Ms. Julie Reiter, a colleague at Justice High School.

Wilson Harvey is an amazing human. As a counselor at Justice High School (and enthusiastic commentator for our basketball games), he goes above and beyond every single day for our students. As deeply as I appreciate these aspects of him (SO MUCH!), it’s actually not why I’m writing today. I’m writing because Mr. Harvey does “High-Five Fridays.” These are THE BEST and must be shared. Every Friday, Mr. Harvey is outside the school’s front entrance, equipped with a “High-Five Friday” whiteboard and a boombox blasting a wide variety of music. Queen. Country. Current Top 40. Disco. You name it; he’s got it. Most Fridays, he’s also decked out in fun attire (e.g., a superhero with a cape, a dinosaur, Bob Ross, different incarnations of Santa Claus, our Justice Wolf mascot (complete with the big Wolf head), spirit-week themes, all four classes’ homecoming themes, etc.). He welcomes students, teachers, and staff for close to 45 minutes, regardless of the weather. Rain? He’s out there. Cold? He’s out there, offering a huge high-five (often with a foam stadium hand) and a smile. EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK. If Friday is a student holiday or a full-blown holiday, he has High-Five Thursday. THE MAN IS AMAZING. Kids notice this. Teachers notice this. EVERYONE notices this. This is Mr. Harvey’s first year at Justice, but you would think he had been here a decade. His High-Five Fridays boost the mood in the school and they make my week, so much so that last Friday when I got to school (a little earlier than usual) and I didn’t see him, I was worried. Five minutes later, though, he emerged, and all was right with the world. Bravo, Mr. Harvey. Bravo.
